Cygnets having a splashing time

I love watching the antics of young cygnets.  I was walking round the lake in the park a few days ago and came across some youngsters having a great time.  They were swimming so fast that I had a hard time getting a photo of them and were really having a splashing time.

Then it was preening time and just chilling out by circling around in the water.

Two cygnets are preening their feathers and another one is having a drink.  The fourth cygnet is having a big stretch and you can see how long it's neck is already - almost a swan!

They really have lovely downy feathers and look so cute.

After cleaning their downy feathers, it was time to float round in the water and relax a little.

It is very interesting watching the progress of the cygnets.  I have been for walks around the lake several times since they were first born and it is amazing watching how quickly they grow.  They now really are starting to look like young swans.
