Bird and wildlife walk from Thornwick Bay to Bempton Cliffs on 9th May 2025

When I set off from Thornwick Bay holiday park there was a Swallow sitting on the roof of one of the buildings near the visitor centre.  It did not stay there long!

I walked up onto the cliffs and was surprised when a Weasel or Stoat (not sure which) popped up out of the long grass.  Once again, it did not stay there long!!

I was staying in Thornwick Bay, East Yorkshire, for a week in early May.  After a day at Bempton Cliffs, I decided to walk along the cliffs to Flamborough Head on the next day.

A male Stonechat was singing while perching on a twig at the beginning of my walk

I took note of the serious warning when I set out to walk along the cliff path

Further along the cliffs I briefly saw a Puffin standing on grass at the edge of the cliff before it flew away

I also managed to get a close view of a Puffin that was resting just below the edge of the cliff

Rainy walk over St. Abbs Head, Scotland, ending with Yellowhammer on the path on way back to St. Abbs - 16th June 2022

I walked up via the cliff path, which would have been too treacherous for me to go down in the rain as there were lots of uneven steps in the rock, and was happy to see that there was a road on the other side of the cliff - so that's the way I went back!

I was glad I walked back on the road as I met this lovely Yellowhammer there!
