On Sunday I went to the newly-opened Woodberry Wetland Centre in Manor House, north London. It was a really hot sunny day and it was almost like being at Piccadily Circus, but much nicer, as so many people had come out for a walk with their children. However, I did manage to take a photograph without having any of them in it - instead, to add to the nature, I got a view of the local church spire and some London buildings, including the Shard.

On that day, the reservoir seemed to contain a lot of gulls and hardly anything else. The nature reserve guide did tell me that there had been sightings of lots of other birds during the day, but they must gone into hiding when I was there. Even the gulls were in the centre of the reservoir and far away from the people. I was glad I had remembered to take my binoculars with me.
I did see 2 Coots taking part in an exciting chase across the surface of the water.

I especially like Great Crested Grebes and was lucky enough to see one. It was mainly swimming in the distance and, annoyingly, kept disappearing under the water. I did manage to take this photograph when it briefly surfaced.

Next time, I think I will go on a cooler weekday and hope that there will be more wildlife than people.
