Goldfinch, Blue Tit and Greenfinch in the Greenwich Peninsular Ecology Park

Last week my camera and I went for a walk in the North Greenwich Ecology Park, which is a very small place.  There are a couple of large bird feeders located near the boardwalk which, at this time of the year, are filled with assorted seeds and attract some beautiful little birds.

How lucky was I to be able to take photographs of these three little beauties!

Two beautiful common small wild birds in the shrubbery at St. James's Park last Sunday

For a change it was sunny last Sunday after weeks of dull rainy days so my camera took me for a walk in St. James's Park, London.

Someone was feeding the birds and I was lucky enough to be able to photograph the following two beautiful common wild birds that were both briefly perching in a shrub with fresh young buds.

These birds moved around so quickly, flitting in and out of cover, that I was very pleased to have caught them on camera!

I don't seem to get round to writing my blog as much as I would have liked, so have decided in the meantime to try at least to add a favourite bird photograph every so often.

At the end of May last year I went to RSPB Rye Meads nature reserve.  The visit was to try and see the Kingfishers that were nesting there at the time.  I had a long time to wait between the male and female Kingfishers popping out of the nest hole in order to take turns feeding, etc.

I was delighted that, during this waiting time, a gorgeous fluffy young Jay appeared on a Black Willow tree at the other side of the pond.  It stayed there quite a while and I was able to take several photographs of it.  I love it's fluffy feathers and comical face with black eyebrows and moustache!

Bird of the week - Cattle Egret at Lee Valley Country Park

On Saturday, my camera and I went for a walk in the Lee Valley Country Park, near Cheshunt.  The walk was run by the RSPB and more than 25 people attended it, which was rather a lot for a group of bird watchers.

We saw lots of interesting birds but, for me, the special of the day was a beautiful Cattle Egret skulking in the undergrowth.

The Country Park is huge and we only covered a fraction of it in the few hours that we spent there.  Now that I have been there with other people, I hope to go again on my own and also hope that I will not get lost!

Peacock strolling around in the sunlight - Kyoto garden, Holland Park, London

On a sunny day just before Christmas my camera and I went for a stroll in London's Holland Park.  I came across a magnificent Peacock in the Kyoto garden.

Here he is posing in the sunlight in front of a Rhododendron bush.

He wandered over to one of the trees in the garden and stood still for a short while

He looked so handsome as he stood in front of the tree trunk and stared at me with the sun shining on his iridescent blue feathers.  What a lovely feathered crown he was wearing!

A cheeky Grey Squirrel popped into view behind the Peacock as he was preening his long feathered tail.

As you can imagine, I took hundreds of photographs that day - especially as he was later joined by a second Peacock pal - so I may add another blog later containing some of my other photos.
