Birds at Bempton Cliffs - Puffins, Gannets, Kittiwakes, Fulmars, etc - on 6th May 2025

I visited East Yorkshire for a week in early May, staying in Thornwick Bay.  On my first day there I walked along the cliffs to RSPB Bempton Cliffs.  I saw a couple of Puffins on my way there.

There were already lots of people on one of the viewing platforms

Two Razorbills at the side of the cliffs

Blackbird singing in the Dell

Goldfinch perching on a shrub near where I was sitting

Sedge Warbler hiding among vegetation

Razorbill at an angle

Dodgy-looking contraptions those viewing platforms on the edge of the cliff!

There were lots of Gannets on the cliffs

Birds, insects and adders at Abberton and Fingrinhoe nature reserve at the end of April2025

Towards the end of April I went on a coach trip to Abberton and Fingringhoe nature reserves

The Layer Breton Causeway at Abberton was our first stop where I saw a pair of Egyptian geese with four young goslings

Spoonbills were flying around in the trees

Some young Grey Herons were on a nest in the centre of a tree

It was great seeing the Spoonbills

Two male Tufted ducks were near the edge of the causeway

Another pair of Spoonbills were on the ground on the other side of the lagoon

After visiting Layer Breton Causeway, we moved on to Fingringhoe nature reserve

View of the lake at Fingringhoe

Male Pheasant crossing the grassy path

A green Shield bug landed on my coat as I was having lunch

Bird hide at the edge of the river

Female Adder curled up in the undergrowth by the side of the path leading to the bird hide

Art Deco houses in Frinton-on-Sea and birds and butterflies at The Naze in late April 2025

I walked from Walton-on-the-Naze to Frinton-on-Sea and viewed some Art Deco houses from the beach hut area down below the cliffs

Then I wandered along the top of the cliff where there were several houses with sea views and others along the small side roads - all looked fantastic!

This one was for sale - dreaming!!!!

Back in Walton-on-the-Naze there were beach huts in tiers

A Pied Wagtail was looking for the Naze Tower
