Visit to Titchwell Marsh nature reserve

I recently spent a wonderful week on the north Norfolk coast.  On 25th September I visited RSPB Titchwell Marsh nature reserve where I saw the following birds.

Common Snipe wading near new green leaves

Avocet behind pink flowers

Little Stint in the mud - new bird for me

Dunlin searching for lunch

White and pale beige geese among a group of Greylags

Linnets on a muddy lagoon at low tide

Great White Egret standing near a reedbed

Dunlin taking flight

Curlew Sandpiper - another first timer for me

All in all, I had a great bird spotting walk round Titchwell Marsh nature reserve.

Christmas visit to Cornwall - staying in an old railway carriage and doing a small amount of birdwatching

My camera and I spent Christmas 2021 with friends in a couple of old railway carriages that were positioned just outside the railway station in Hayle, Cornwall.  We had a great time, even though the accommodation was a little cramped!

View of Harvey in the early evening with a row of fairy lights along the fence

Corridor inside the carriages, with compartments on the left

Living room/bedroom - not a lot of space, but enough!  This is a photograph of it before it got turned into a bedroom

One of the two kitchens in the carriages

St. Michael's Mount just after the rain had stopped on Christmas Eve

Swallow in the car park at Marazion - I was surprised to see one at that time of the year!

View of the beach from the cliffs just outside Hayle

Wild Dartmoor pony on the cliffs at the Towans just outside Hayle

Two more beautiful white wild ponies

Redshank in the Hayle Estuary at low tide

Oystercatcher on a small football pitch at Lelant Saltings

Robin singing in the sunshine on a tree on the coastal path from Hayle to St. Ives

Godrevy Lighthouse viewed from the coastal path

St. Ives in the distance viewed from the coastal path during our walk on Boxing Day

Herring Gulls on St. Ives beach while we waited for our taxi to arrive for our journey back to Hayle

It was a very enjoyable visit to Cornwall - made even more so by our unusual, and very warm, railway accommodation.
